WCIA will increase a sense of belonging for residents of color.
WCIA will foster relationships of goodwill between individuals and organizations within the Wyoming community.
WCIA will collaborate with Wyoming City Schools and Government efforts to attract and retain a workforce that reflects the diversity within the community of Wyoming.
WCIA will establish the organizational infrastructure to meet the ongoing needs of challenging status quo and driving change within the Wyoming community (manpower, fundraising, website, legal structure, etc.)
WCIA will raise awareness of the root causes of racial disparities within the city and school system to help residents and leaders understand the benefits of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
Key Actions
Community Events: Organize and host events that celebrate diversity, educate about different cultures, and foster connections among residents.
Educational Programs: Develop initiatives to educate community members.
Equity Advocacy: Actively advocate for equitable practices in schools, city policies, and community organizations, working towards eliminating disparities.
Accountability Mechanisms: Establish clear measures and systems to hold schools, city institutions, and community organizations accountable for their commitment to promoting equity.
Safe Spaces: Create and maintain safe spaces where residents of color feel comfortable sharing their experiences and perspectives
Collaborative Partnerships: Form partnerships with local organizations, government entities, and community members to collaboratively address and combat systemic issues.
Policy Advocacy: Advocate for changes in systemic structures, practices, and policies that contribute to racial inequity within schools, city government, and the justice system.
Communication Strategies: Develop transparent communication channels to keep the community informed about WCIA’s efforts, progress, and ongoing initiatives.
