Your Emcee, Joi Hutcherson
Joi is a proud Wyoming grad who has been writing poetry since she was seven. As she wrote across her life in a variety of ways, the love for spoken word and written poetry grew. She has had pieces displayed and read during Juneteenth, school programs, in jazz bars, and at poetry events around the city. A graduate of UC, she is the mom of a fantastic six year old and an active community member. We are grateful for her leadership this year!

Featured Poet: Brxx

Brianna Chenault—poetically known as Brxx—is a youth advocate, poet, author, creative, and spoken word artist. A nationally ranked top 20 slam poet, Brxx has taught multiple poetry workshops focusing on writing through trauma. She has multiple poems published, including two in SOS: Empowerment and Healing, a teaching series used in middle and high schools across Cincinnati. As a queer Black woman, Brxx’s artistry focuses on mental health, self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-love while existing in spaces that cannot be defined by a sole label. In performance and style, Brxx is deeply vulnerable and emotive, expressing her life experiences through her artistry.
Brxx has shared her work on multiple stages throughout the nation and has a deep fervency for helping others heal through poetry, as she has.
